Born in Abu Dhabi and brought up in Aberdeen, this proud Scot is a fully-fledged water baby. From an active family, Robbie started out as a windsurfer at the age of eight – following in the footsteps of his dad.
Fourteen years later, he learnt to kitesurf under the guidance of TRYkitesurfing’s previous owners – talk about keeping it in the family! Since then, he hasn’t looked back and can often be seen ‘catching air’ down at Barassie Beach.
Away from kitesurfing, Robbie spends his time swapping sea salt for chlorine – he is a professional swimmer currently in training for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Two-time Olympian already, Robbie is no stranger to success. In 2010, he was crowned Commonwealth champion under the Scottish flag in Delhi and two years later made the Olympic final for TeamGB in London.
In August 2015, Robbie was a member of Britain’s most successful FINA World Swimming Championships team in Kazan where he was crowned World Champion in the 4 x 200m Freestyle relay.
Renwick trains at the University of Stirling with coach Ben Higson.
Now a fully certified IKO Kitesurfing instructor, Robbie loves channelling his Olympic spirit and teaching others one of the most exciting sports on the planet.
